I can get alexanderleonard - what do you think? Does that sound ok? It's just annoying as I've managed to maintain alexleonard as a user name at most social services.
seems that FB ignores both dots and dashes (-) in names.
I was not going to both to join the "great land rush" to get a sensible name, but logged into FB to check my inbox, and at the top of the page was a link, and as it was still available i figured, why not.

You can set a name on your pages too - but your page has to have 1000 fans - that's not going to happen for my pages anytime soon :(
